From Research Review to Actionable Knowledge: Epistemic Handoff Architecture

Source: screenwalk-261015 | From Research to Action: Epistemic Handoff, Deep Diver & MiadiRun — JGWill https://youtu.be/gloSM0SIgPI

Summary

Guillaume evaluates the gap between speculative research reviews and production implementation across the Miadi ecosystem. By codifying the distinction between epistemic handoffs and semantic delegation, the workflow stops agents from blindly refactoring code. Instead, it captures verified evidence into GitHub master issues, structured tracing contracts, and bounded terminal agent missions.

Intended Use & Continuation

The Deep Diver path. This review documents a screenwalk in which research, repository inspection, agent collaboration, and engineering proposals converge into an emerging architecture for epistemic handoff and semantic delegation.

The purpose of this Deep Diver pass is education, verification, and preparation for further inquiry, not immediate implementation.

Create a notebook that helps humans and agents understand what has already been implemented, what remains hypothetical, what needs correction, and how the findings might inform future development and onstage narrative.

Academic Foundations — Short Research Survey

Computational Linguistics — Context and Information Preservation

Investigate how extended conversations can be reduced into structured handoffs without silently discarding important constraints. Compare conventional summarization, LLMLingua, and the proposed three-layer epistemic handoff.

Pragmatics — Implicature and Common Ground

Explore how intentions, contextual assumptions, speaker commitments, and implied meanings survive—or disappear—when conversations become machine-readable records.

Use Grice and Clark as foundations. A list of conclusions does not necessarily preserve what participants understood together.

Terminology Studies — Evolving Concepts

Investigate how new architectural concepts receive names and definitions.

Distinguish epistemic compaction, epistemic handoff, coverage probes, and semantic delegation. Preserve historical terminology and unresolved definitions rather than silently merging them.

Qualitative Research — Coding and Reflexive Analysis

Connect repeated screenwalk reviews, observations, interpretations, and research memos with qualitative methodology and grounded-theory practices.

Distinguish what was observed in the recording from what an agent inferred, and preserve opportunities for revising earlier interpretations.

Provenance and Information Science — Evidence Lineage

Use W3C PROV as a reference for tracing entities, activities, agents, versions, and derivations.

Investigate how a claim moves from recording to review, checkpoint, notebook, engineering proposal, and eventual implementation. Provenance establishes lineage, not truth.

Human–AI Interaction and Decision Science

Explore how Jev and other decision-support systems could evaluate proposed actions.

Separate model recommendations from authorization, human oversight, execution receipts, and actual outcomes.

A high score does not automatically grant authority.

Software Architecture — Event-Driven Orchestration

Examine the existing Miadi event spine, decomposition workflows, tracing infrastructure, Chronicle, Medicine Wheel Cycles, and receipted delegation mechanisms.

Identify what is already implemented, what is only specified, and which integration boundaries remain untested.

Relational Research and Creative Authorship

Consider Shawn Wilson’s Research Is Ceremony as a foundation for questioning responsibility, relationality, and the practice of returning to earlier research.

Distinguish Indigenous research methodologies and their ethical obligations from technical analogies in agent orchestration.

Explore how the Author’s Desk might transform selected backstage research into questions, sparks, and story hooks without replacing the human author’s writing.

Questions for Deep Diver

Ask these four questions explicitly:

  1. What has already been implemented in the Miadi ecosystem, what remains speculative, and what evidence is still missing?
  2. How do epistemic handoff, semantic delegation, Jev evaluation, human authorization, and responsible closure relate without becoming one indistinguishable operation?
  3. Which academic foundations genuinely support the proposed architecture, and where are the contradictions, unsupported claims, or limitations?
  4. How can this research contribute both to future engineering missions and to fictional storytelling while preserving source lineage, authorship, and human responsibility?

Requested Educational Artifacts

Infographic: Show the complete research-to-action cycle, identifying verified components, proposed capabilities, unresolved questions, and human decision points.

Architecture diagram: Represent the relationship among screenwalks, Miadi Review, Chronicle, epistemic checkpoints, decomposition, decision support, delegation, traces, and the Author’s Desk.

Evidence-status diagram: Distinguish implemented code, verified runtime behavior, incomplete integrations, proposed designs, and unsupported claims.

Video overview: Produce a comprehensible educational explanation of the research, the discoveries, the architectural tensions, and the next possible development cycle.

Interactive report: Present the principal claims, evidence, contradictions, academic foundations, and proposed investigation paths. Preserve source links and outstanding questions.

These are requested outputs, not artifacts whose generation has already been verified.

Engineering Context and Continuation

The engineering roadmap proposes missions M00–M08, but these are not automatically authorized by this Deep Diver pass.

Start future engineering work with M00: independently reconcile the research claims with current repository code, Chronicle records, tests, and runtime evidence. Subsequent implementation requires its own authorization.

Chronicle and Source Requirements

Before creating or landing notebook media, verify that the current review is held by an appropriate Chronicle episode through the authorized episode door.

Record the review version actually consumed, the recording URL, notebook questions, source imports, generated artifacts, and Chronicle landing receipt.

If required sources or the episode holder are unavailable, report the blocker rather than inventing a successful result.

Open Inquiry

How can a collaborative AI factory transform research into responsible action while preserving the meaning, uncertainty, authorship, and relationships from which that research emerged?

The objective is not to claim that the architecture is complete. It is to make the next cycle of research more informed, inspectable, and accountable.

Aspects

Three Movements of Inquiry (00:02-01:25)

The analysis structures research ingestion across three disciplined phases: discovery of unrecognized findings, convergence with existing project prototypes and architectural decisions, and becoming. Becoming determines which concepts warrant concrete implementation rather than prematurely generating code, filing issues, or transforming unfinished hypotheses into fiction.

Epistemic Handoff versus Semantic Delegation (01:53-05:08)

The system formally separates epistemic handoffs from semantic delegation. An epistemic handoff audits and preserves what research established, including uncertainty, constraints, and unresolved obligations. In contrast, semantic delegation defines explicit authority contracts, preventing a descriptive summary statement from being inadvertently interpreted as an authorized development command.

Confronting Research Claims Against Codebase Reality (06:54-08:55)

An audit reconciles theoretical claims against the live repository. While prompt compression benchmarks are bounded, assumptions that authoring desks were unbuilt or that model recommendations equate to execution authorizations are rejected. Terminal agents must confront actual code before initiating broad refactoring.

Deep Diver Webhook and Handoff Mechanics (23:20-27:10)

The pipeline links review completion webhooks to queue briefs for the Deep Diver terminal agent. To avoid hallucinated or stale generation, the webhook requires a resolvable review identifier pointing directly to structured handoff files and authoritative Chronicle records rather than detached zip downloads.

Three-Destination Knowledge Preservation (29:40-30:45)

A single research session feeds three distinct downstream consumers: human retrospectives for rapid comprehension, bounded agent execution without duplicating existing capabilities, and authorial staging for creative storytelling that respects human writing boundaries.

End-results and Core Aspect

Core Aspect — Bounded and Traceable Handoff Architecture (41:00-42:50)

The core implementation is a verifiable handoff architecture that translates high-level research audits into strict, bounded GitHub issue specifications. It prevents agent drift by constraining execution to initial verification before any production modifications are permitted.

Results

  • Miadi Master Mission Issue #787 (40:38-41:20): A centralized GitHub issue acts as the single entry point for terminal agents, linking the full engineering audit, six source documents, and bounded mission M00 for codebase verification.
  • MiadiRun Tracing Contract #793 (41:20-42:45): Established prompt and tracing contracts specify runtime session correlation, source issue linkage, LangFuse tracing requirements, and mandatory completion receipts for repeatable agent runs.
  • Source Artifact Preservation in GitHub (42:15-43:05): Eliminated scattered local zip files by recovering and transcribing draft specifications, terminology ledgers, and machine handoff states directly into GitHub issues #794 and #795.
  • Synchronized Media Overview and Metadata (43:40-49:55): Produced a complete YouTube-ready release packet with safe slugging, standardized descriptions, and pedagogical dialogue scripts connecting academic linguistics foundations to operational agent orchestration.
